Effectiveness in Medicine – Dale Carnegie SWFL and CME4Life have come together for a Faculty Development Series collaboration presented by Dale Carnegie franchise owner, CME4Life founder and world-class speaker John Bielinski, Jr. PA-C.

What You Can Expect During the Course

Expect Thoroughly Trained Trainers: The participants in the Effectiveness in Medicine Course are made up of both formal and informal leaders. Psychological Safety is emphasized to create a safe place to try out new skills and ideas. The trainers are highly vetted and undergo an intense training that is ISO9002 certified to achieve consistent results globally.

Duration

The Effectiveness in Medicine Course is designed to meet a variety of schedules, time frames and learning preferences.

3 Session: This is the standard program and all versions are developed from this option. This is delivered in person with 3 in-person sessions.

3 Day: This is an intense immersion experience held in 3 in-person days. All the content is covered with two commitment reports (one on controlling stress and one human relations commitment) that are reported on in a sustainment session held after the three days are completed. This option is ideal for someone who wants fast results and is under time pressure.

This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to apply for 24.00 AAPA Category 1 CME credits from the AAPA Review Panel. The total number of credits is yet to be determined.

Day 1

Session will run from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Session 1A: Build a Foundation for Classroom Success

  • Learn methods to connect with students/colleagues
  • Familiarize ourselves with the Five Drivers of Success
  • Expand our capacity to achieve our educational vision by committing to breakthroughs

Session 1B:Tools of Rapport: Recall and Use Names

  • Focus on students as individuals
  • Create positive first impressions
  • Use methods for remembering names

Session 1C:Build on Memory Skills and the Enhance Classroom Learning

  • Apply a process for memory improvement and how to facilitate teaching these concepts
  • Become familiar with the principles for improving human relations
  • Identify opportunities for improving classroom and professional relationships

Session 1D: Increase Self Confidence

  • Use our clinical and classroom experiences to teach more confidently
  • Educate with clarity and intention
  • Discover how past experiences influence behavior and how to leverage our past to teach others

Day 2

Session will run from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Session topics will include:

Session 2A: Enhance Classroom Effectiveness and Motivate Students

  • Persuasively communicate concisely that moves people to action
  • Learn the Human Relations Principles that improves results
  • Discover how relationships ignites the learning environment

Session 2B: Make Our Ideas Clear

  • Demonstrate clarity when giving directions
  • Learn to present medical content in a logical memorable sequence
  • Reinforce the value of demonstrations when teaching medical concepts

Session 2C: Energize Our Communication

  • Recognize that including action in our communication releases nervous energy
  • Become more natural when communicating with others
  • Become more animated to energize and engage others

Session 2D: Put Stress in Perspective

  • Recognize the impact of burnout in physician assistant education
  • Commit to using concepts and principles to better handle stress
  • Discover more effective ways for educators to prepare for and address challenges

Day 3

Session will run from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Session topics will include:

Session 3A:Gain Willing Cooperation and Commit to Influence Others

  • Influence students through trust and respect
  • Achieve cooperation versus compliance
  • Discover the power of finding points of agreement
  • Discover how to coach students for improved performance

Session 3B: Disagree Agreeably

  • Demonstrate a process to organize our thoughts in impromptu situations
  • Communicate clinical information effectively even when we disagree
  • Strengthen our personal opinions

Session 3C: Develop More Flexibility

  • Implement a wider range of education skills
  • Apply the power of risk-taking to expand bandwidth when teaching
  • Become more open-minded to change and opportunity

Session 3D: Build Others and Ourselves through Recognition

  • Concentrate on the strengths of others
  • Develop skills in giving and receiving positive feedback
  • Discover the value of sincere appreciation
  • Recognize breakthroughs resulting from this faculty development program

The UD-PA OFFICE is located in the Science building (#16 on the Map). The PA Wing is most easily accessed via Auburn Street, with a glass door clearly marked LINDA CHLAPATY HALL directly above. Upon entering the glass door, the PA Offices are down the hall to the left.
PARKING
Visitor Parking is located on Algona across the street from Severance (#12 on the map). The parking lot is indicated with a “P”. If the Visitor’s lot is full, you can park in the Pearl Lot (marked “P” across from the Heritage Center, #32 on the map). Handicapped parking is available in the lot on Auborn Street next to the Science Building.

    John Bielinski MS PA-C, earned a master’s degree in family and emergency medicine from A.T. Still University. Since beginning his career, John has remained committed to serving medical professionals and his community through direct care and education. John has held multiple teaching positions in the emergency department and other various medical settings. However, it was John’s experience overseeing a rural emergency department for fifteen years that really encouraged him to pursue his passion for education. John has since developed a widely acclaimed national lecture series. John leverages his field experiences, developing lectures that focus on emergency medicine and patient-centered care. John is passionate about improving the overall quality of medical care by delivering superior education and training to medical providers.
