A recent PA grad who passed the PANCE in June 2025 — on her third attempt. Having lived both the struggle and the breakthrough, she’s passionate about helping students clear the same hurdles. She’s pursuing hospitalist and emergency-medicine PA work and lives in the Greater Seattle area with her husband and children.

Originally from Potomac, Maryland, Ellie earned degrees in Public Health Science and Psychology from the University of Maryland and her Master’s in PA Studies at Thomas Jefferson University, with an elective in neurosurgery. Before PA school she worked as a medical assistant in urgent care and pediatrics, a scribe in integrative primary care, and a research assistant studying respiratory infections. She loves reading, gardening, trail running, and concerts.

Michael brings an extensive background in emergency medicine and education to CME4Life. A Physician Associate since 2004, he founded an online Emergency Medicine fellowship for licensed PAs in 2018 and has served as a primary and adjunct lecturer for PA programs for more than 15 years — the same clarity-first, anti-boring approach that defines a CME4Life review.

After you enroll, you’ll get a short questionnaire about your background, your timeline, and where you’re struggling. We use that to match you with the right PA tutor and build a personalized plan, then schedule your sessions.

Who will I be matched with? ⌄

PANCE candidates work with our PANCE tutoring team — Whitney Harrison (lead), Mahbuba Akter, and Ellie Lavery, PA-C. PANRE candidates work with Michael Caplan, MMSc, PA-C. We match based on your needs and goals.

Are sessions private or semi-private? ⌄

We keep sessions one-on-one whenever we can. During high-demand periods, CME4Life reserves the right to run semi-private sessions with a small group of students — so we can keep availability open and your timeline on track.

Is tutoring eligible for CME? ⌄

Both the PANCE and PANRE tutoring programs are approved for AAPA Category 2 CME. They are not currently approved for Category 1 credit. If you need Category 1 CME, the live PANRE/PANCE Precision Board Review is the right option.

Do I need the Precision Study Guide? ⌄

For PANCE tutoring, yes — the sessions are built around the PANCE Precision 5.0 Study Guide ($149, physical copy), so you’ll want a copy if you don’t already own one. For PANRE, you can add the printed PANRE Precision Book to your prep.
